A bit of context.

I’m Steve Hennerley, based in Auckland, New Zealand. I work in technology and spend a fair amount of my non-work time around astronomy, amateur radio, software and making things behave when they have no particular desire to.

Some of that has meant helping modernise historic observatory equipment; some of it has meant writing a small tool to make a dome encoder less mysterious; some of it has involved bringing an old radio back into service and discovering it can still cooperate with present-day software.
